Exclusions
  • Civil – Complex Cases, Petitions for Name Change, Civil Harassment Restraining Orders, Unlawful Detainers (until further notice), Issuances or documents requiring a certification stamp/court seal, other than Summons, Renewal of Judgment, DL-30 – Certificate of Facts Re: Unsatisfied Judgment, lodged and sealed document, posting of jury fees.
  • Family Law – Presently, no document titles with filing fees, further clerk processing or Judicial Signature are supported (exception Request for Telephonic or Video Appearance). Request for Domestic Violence Restraining Order, Request for Elder Abuse Restraining Order (until further notice).
  • Appeals – No Appeals documents are accepted at this time.
  • Juvenile Dependency – No Juvenile Dependency documents are accepted at this time.
  • Small Claims – Request for Court Order and Answer and Request to Correct Court Judgment and Answer and all associated responses and orders with those filings.
There is a 20MB per file and 100MB per order limit.

Existing Cases
  • Criminal
    • Cases with leading case type codes in the case number: CR, CS, and PS
  • Family Law
    • Cases with leading case type codes in the case number: FL or FS
    • Sealed cases are not supported (must be handled in person at physical court locations). Sealed cases will not be searchable in the system when attempting to submit on existing cases.
  • All uploaded documents must be in an electronic searchable PDF format.
Support both new and existing cases
  • Criminal
    • Cases with leading case type codes in the case number: CS, and PS
  • Probate
    • Cases with leading case type codes in the case number: PR
  • Civil
    • Cases with leading case type codes in the case number: CV which includes Small Claims
    • Sealed cases are not supported (must be handled in person at physical court locations). Sealed cases will not be searchable in the system when attempting to submit on existing cases.
    • Multiple cases can be submitted in one order. An order number will be assigned for the overall order as well as a case order number for the individual cases within the order. Court clerk processing will be performed at the case order-level – one case at a time.
    • All uploaded documents must be in an electronic searchable PDF format.
    • Payment processing is immediately available after an order has been submitted. Once the order is submitted, the order detail page in the eFiling Portal will be updated to reflect the payment URL. The user will also receive a New Order Confirmation email along with the payment URL if there are fees. Online payment is required before the order will be handled by the court. An order will be rejected if no payment has been processed at the time of the clerk review.
    • The ordering process behaves similarly to an eCommerce shopping cart. A user will add all the items to the cart. Once ready, the user will submit the order for review. It is during this review step that fee waivers and First Paper fees will be presented and calculated.
Fee Waivers
  • Criminal
    • If a “Financial Declaration” document is added as part of the order, the fees will be zero’ ed out for the case.
  • Family Law
    • Presently, no document titles with fees are supported until further notice.
  • Civil
    • A fee waiver document is required for each litigant requesting a fee waiver. Below is the fee waiver documents available to a Civil case.
    • Request to Waive Court Fees – per filing
    • Request to Waive Additional Court Fees – per filing
    • Once a litigant is granted a fee waiver on the case, fee exemption status will be used going forward on the case until expiration.
  • Probate
    • A fee waiver document is required for each litigant requesting a fee waiver. Below is the fee waiver documents available to a Probate case.
    • Request to Waive Court Fees – per filing
    • Request to Waive Additional Court Fees – per filing
    • Request to Waive Court Fees FW-001-GC – per filing
    • Once a litigant is granted a fee waiver on the case, fee exemption status will be used going forward on the case until expiration.
Proposed Hearings
  • For certain documents, the system will present three of the next available hearing date/time. Users are able to choose their preferred hearing date/time as well as manually choose a date/time that is not presented. Users are required to select and set the preference order of three different hearing dates/times.
Status
  • Order status – the status of an order is based on the total statuses of the cases within the order.
    • Submitted – order has been submitted to the Court. Court has not processed any cases within the order.
    • In-Process – one or more cases within an order has been processed by the Court (Canceled, Rejected, or Processed) but not the entire order.
    • Processed – all cases within an order have been processed by the Court (Canceled, Rejected, or Processed).
    • Canceled – order has been canceled by the user. The user cancels order and cases whereas, the Court rejects cases. Any paid fees associated with orders are refunded by nCourt. See payment information for details for expectations of time around durations.
  • Case status
    • Submitted – a case has been submitted to the Court. Court has not processed the case.
    • Processed – a case has been reviewed and accepted by the Court.
    • Canceled – a case has been canceled by the user. Any paid fees associated with the case are refunded by nCourt.
    • Rejected – a case has been rejected by the Court. Any paid fees associated with the case are refunded by nCourt.
  • The plaintiff/petitioner or their attorney must access their copy of the Notice of Case Assignment and Notice of Hearing as well as the issued Summons from the court’s case management system via the Public Portal. The Plaintiff’s Claim and Order to Go to Small Claims Court must also be accessed via the Public Portal. Additional time is required for processing. If the documents are not available 48 hours after processing, you may request a status update by contacting the department via email.
